INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF THE MOVING ARTS FROM CANARY ISLANDS
he art of movement continues to be one of the forms of relationship. Human beings have always used rhythmic or non-rhythmic movements to connect with the main manifestations of each era, from dances associated with beliefs in protection and sacrifices for Mother Earth, to present day when they are in people’s daily lives, in one way or another to create identities. linked to the styles of the arts of movement.
The arts of movement are expanding their disciplines in a more contemporary way. The most classic version of the most sophisticated and classic styles is not left out, determining to the artist the discipline of the different schools.
In recent decades, the most modern concepts have replaced the most classical disciplines, with a paradigm shift in the way of viewing the arts of movement.
This is how MOVE CANARIAS was born, and had the presence, in previous editions, of the company No Bautizados (Ukraine/Chile) and the work “Lo invisible”, “La escondida” by Franklin Dávalos (Ecuador/ Peru), “Esto No Es Una Prueba De Sonido” by Carlota Mantecón (Canary Islands), “Hasta El infinito y Más Allá” by Ian Garside (UK), “Liso – estriado -liso” by Ximena Guerrero (Colombia) and the selection of dance films by DanzaTTack.
In 2023 it will celebrate its third edition, present in Lanzarote, Tenerife, Gran Canaria and La Palma, La Gomera y El Hierro, trying to address the proposals of the movement arts, paying special attention this year to training and vocation, being an open space with a international dimension, of interest to visitors and residents of the Canary Islands, settled in different municipalities of the islands, provides plurality to the proposals presented.
